Call for Concept Notes
The Umbrella Fund will support scalable ideas to advance the last-mile impact of geospatial technology on polio, malaria, and routine immunization in DRC and Nigeria through the provision of funding, technical assistance, facilitation support, and networks global linkages to support local organizations and ideas.
The Umbrella Fund for Geospatial Interventions will continuously rollout interventions to address new opportunity areas identified within the landscape. Please see the current priority areas identified with the value pipeline framework, below.

Eligibility
- Applications are open only to legally registered organizations with a local presence, including for-profit businesses, non-profits, and government agencies. Individual applications will not be considered.
- For consortium applications, only the lead organization should submit the concept note.
- Organizations may submit multiple applications across multiple intervention areas and can receive multiple grants if they demonstrate the necessary human and technical capacity to deliver.
- Applicants must have a proven track record of implementing similar projects and demonstrated expertise in the relevant priority area.
What We're Looking For
Providing catalytic funding to support high-impact, data-driven solutions that enable local organizations to address systemic challenges and drive last-mile impact.
Be a geospatial technology or service solution
The proposed solution should introduce a new concept or idea in open-source geospatial technology (or have the potential to become open-source). It may or may not have a prototype. The concept note must demonstrate its potential to positively impact health interventions for children, women, and other vulnerable groups.
Be a catalytic and impactful solution
The proposed solution may integrate Umbrella Funding with existing projects or other funding sources to maximize impact. Additionally, the selected local partner must demonstrate measurable impact by December 2025.
Support proximal partners
A strong concept note will demonstrate coordination and collaboration among multiple stakeholders, potentially encompassing government, non-government, and academic sectors as appropriate.
Be scalable
The solution must be scalable and can be deployed quickly to support the implementation of interventions.
Be aligned with policy
The solution must be aligned with policy and be relevant to the policy-making process.
Be cost-effective
The solution must be cost-effective and have the potential to reduce costs for local organizations and implementers.
