Investment Areas
Creating coordinated national systems with governance frameworks to enhance data integration and accessibility.
Our assessments revealed significant challenges in how geospatial and health data is coordinated at national levels in both Nigeria and DRC. Data fragmentation, limited interoperability, and unclear governance have hindered effective use of valuable information for decision-making. The Integrated Data Governance investment area addresses these challenges by developing coordinated data systems with clear governance frameworks at the national level.
Key Challenges Addressed:
Multiple uncoordinated data repositories
Limited cross-reference capability between systems
Inconsistent data standards and definitions
Unclear governance for data sharing and use
Strategic Approach:
This investment area creates sustainable knowledge pathways through:
Harmonized data architecture design
Interoperability frameworks
Data governance protocols
Stakeholder coordination mechanisms
The National Data Repository Initiative supports the development of centralized, accessible data systems with clear governance protocols. This initiative is tailored to each country's specific institutional landscape.
Scenario I (Nigeria):
Supporting data centralization where separate agencies exist for data management and standardization
Focusing on consolidating geospatial and health data for improved access and coordination
Scenario II (DRC):
Local implementation focuses on:
Supporting data coordination through harmonization and standardization
Working with a single agency that oversees geospatial and health data
